Tolerancing is essential any to bringing any optical design into fruition. It refers to the process of defining acceptable limits of variation in an optical system's physical and optical characteristics. These tolerances are crucial for ensuring that the optical system performs as intended, even when subject to inevitable variations in manufacturing, material properties, and environmental conditions.
KostaCLOUD's Tolerancing module has been in development since mid 2022 and has full ability for Monte-Carlo analysis and sensitivity analysis. KostaCLOUD Tolerancing module supports compensators, solves, data visualization, and data export. The bulk of the remaining integration that remains is in the UI/UX and finalization of testing.
Effective optical tolerancing involves a balance between performance requirements and practical considerations like manufacturing capabilities and cost. It often requires iteration of designs to ensure that the tolerances are both adequate for performance and achievable in production.
